Floodplain obstacles overcome, an historical landmark restored and reinvented
This project took advantage of the site's natural grade to place parking below a 22,000
square foot office space addition. The former hardware store received a modern office
interior while its original front facade was restored to an 1880's appearance. Featured
in CAM magazine for its floodproofing techniques, this project was also awarded a Michigan
Building Award by the Michigan Historic Preservation Network citing the adaptive reuse of a
significant historic structure.
